RIVERSIDE, Calif.— Tara Mihaljevic won in both singles and doubles to lead the San José State women's tennis team (1-0, 0-0 MW) in a 6-1 victory against UC Riverside (1-2, 0-0 Big West) on Tuesday morning at the SRC Tennis Courts in Riverside, Calif.
The Spartans swept in doubles, while in singles, three Spartans quickly overtook their opponent in straight sets, securing the opening day victory.
- In her Spartan debut, Camila Celis and doubles partner Mihaljevic quickly won in doubles, 6-2.
- Soledad Fayos Capilla and Cristina Mateos Losada won in their doubles match, 6-2.
- Mihaljevic won in the third set of her singles match, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
- Celis also defeated her opponent in singles in the third set, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
- Mateos Losada made quick work in her singles match, 6-1, 6-2.
- Emma Fantousis defeated her opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
- Fayos Capilla won in straight sets on court two, 7-6, 6-2.
- Duru Durgun fell short in her singles match, 2-6, 6-1, 3-6.
