SPARTANS VISIT THE MESA FOR ONE FINAL MW GAME: The San José State women’s basketball team travels to Mountain West leader San Diego State this Saturday for the final MW game between the two schools. The Aztecs sit atop the conference standings with an 8-0 conference record. This is the final meeting between the programs as members of the Mountain West. The schools have competed against each other in three conferences - Big West/PCAA, Western Athletic, and the MW.
San José State enters the game with a 3-17 overall record and a 1-8 mark in the Mountain West. The Spartans recorded their first conference win Wednesday night with a 60-57 win over Nevada inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Maya Anderson led all scorers with 15 points, while Stella Sgro pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
ABOUT SAN DIEGO STATE: The Aztecs enter Saturday’s game atop the Mountain West standings with a perfect 8-0 record and 14-3 overall record. The team defeated UNLV, 75-66 in overtime, last Saturday to take sole possession of first place. Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson is in her 13th season at the school with a 193-198 coaching record. SDSU has recorded 20+ wins in each of the past three seasons.

The Spartans overcame a four-point first quarter and scored 27 points in the second to take a 31-25 halftime lead. Amira Brown scored six points and grabbed five rebounds while Rylei Waugh added 10 points in the win.

M. ANDERSON LEADING THE SPARTANS: Maya Anderson leads San José State in scoring with 263 points, 13.2 per game. She has led the team in points scored in 10 games, including a career-best 29 points in a win over Sacramento State. She has scored in double figures in 14 games this season.
Anderson also leads the team with 130 rebounds, 6.5 per game. She has led the team in boards in eight games - 8 at BYU, 9 against UC Santa Barbara, 12 versus Cal State Monterey Bay, 7 against Sacramento State and at Fresno State, 9 against GCU, New Mexico and Air Force and 6 versus UNLV.
SPARTANS GET CONTRIBUTIONS FOR EVERYONE IN WIN OVER NEVADA: Nine Spartans scored in San José State’s 60-57 home win over Nevada Wednesday night. Maya Anderson led all scorers with 15 points and was the only Spartan in double-figures. Amira Brown scored nine points, while McKenna Simons came off the bench to contribute a season-high eight points. Allie Cummins and Amelie Sitterud each had six points, while Stella Sgro and Katarina Anderson had five. Gabriela Pato scored four points off the bench, while Kaliyah Dillard scored the first Spartan points of the game.
LEADS AFTER 3=VICTORIES: The Spartans are 3-0 this season when leading after three quarters. In the win over Nevada, SJSU led 47-46 after the third quarter and led by as many as six points in the fourth quarter. Trailing by one with 46 seconds remaining, Maya Anderson made a layup to give SJSU the lead with 32 seconds left. Allie Cummins then sealed the win by making two free throws with 10 seconds left for the 60-57 win.
