SAN DIEGO—Allie Cummins had a perfect day from the field, en route to a team-high 19 points, as the San José State women’s basketball team fell at Mountain West leader San Diego State, 94-66, Saturday afternoon inside Viejas Arena.
- Cummins was 7-for-7 from the field and 5-for-5 from three-point range.
- SJSU had the best shooting day from behind the three-point line this season, making 15-of-36 attempts for 41.7 percent. Seven of the nine Spartans who saw action connected from three-point range.
- The 15 three-pointers made are the most made by a Spartan team since the 2019-20 season. That year, SJSU made 15 threes in wins over LaVerne and New Mexico.
- The 15 made threes are also the second-most made by a Mountain West team this season.
- Stella Sgro added 11 points, making three three-pointers and was 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
- Cummins, Sgro and Amelie Sitterud dished out four assists each.
- Maya Anderson and Gabriela Pato each blocked two shots for SJSU.
- The Spartans finished the game with a 12-1 run over the final 2:18, with threes made by Sitterud, Carla Fuster, and Pato, and a three-point play by Mecca Alexander.
- San José State used its fifth starting lineup of the season – Cummins, Sgro, Amira Brown, Anderson and Pato.
UP NEXT – The Spartans take a small break to start their academic classes before returning to the court at Boise State next Saturday, January 31. Tip time is set for 2 p.m. MT/1 p.m. PT. The team returns home Super Bowl week for games against Fresno State on Wednesday, February 4, at 7 p.m., and San Diego State on Saturday, February 7, at 2 p.m.
