Mungali Leads Spartans in Final Day at the Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - Keshav “KC” Mungali carded a 1-over 71 in the final round to lead the San José State men’s golf team at the Southwestern Invitational, hosted at North Ranch Country Club.

Mungali’s final round featured three birdies, bringing his tournament total to a team-best 216 (+6). His performance earned him a tie for 25th place in a competitive field. As a unit, the Spartans finished the tournament in 11th place with a cumulative score of 881 (+41).

Spartan Standouts

  • Mungali: Paced the Spartans throughout the event, finishing T25. He remained consistent through the final round to secure his top-team finish.
  • Avinash Iyer: Followed closely behind, carding a 73 (+3) on Wednesday with three birdies. Iyer finished just one stroke behind Mungali with a total of 217 (+7), good for a tie for 28th.
  • Ivan Barahona: Finished in a tie for 47th place after posting a 77 (+7) in the final round for a tournament total of 223 (+13).
  • Christian Maggard: Recorded three birdies on Wednesday to card a 77 (+7). He finished the invitational at 226 (+16), tied for 57th.
  • Jed Dy: Turned in a final round 76 (+6), including a pair of birdies, finishing in 65th place with a 229 (+19).
  • Itai Cohen: Competing as an individual, Cohen closed out his tournament with an 86 on Wednesday.
