SJSU's Noriega named to Mountain West Softball Preseason Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San José State standout Ahmiya Noriega has been named to the 2026 Mountain West Softball Preseason Team, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

This selection marks the second consecutive year a Spartan has received Mountain West Preseason honors, reinforcing the program's growing presence in the conference.

A Standout 2025 Campaign

Noriega earns the preseason nod following a stellar 2025 season, where she was named to the All-Mountain West First Team. A consistent force in the lineup, she started all 50 games for the Spartans and emerged as one of the most explosive hitters in the country.

2025 Season Highlights:

  • National Leader: Tied for first in the nation with 10 triples.
  • Elite Efficiency: Posted a .352 batting average and a .967 OPS.
  • Power & Production: Recorded 56 hits, including 8 doubles and 2 home runs.
  • Run Production: Accounted for 26 RBIs and drew 11 walks.

  • Led the team in avg with .352, hits 56, triples 10, and tied the team in runs at 31
  • Had a seven-game hit streak to end the season (4/23-5/03)
