BEGINNING 2026 AT HOME WITH THE LOBOS: The San José State women’s basketball team begins the 2026 calendar year with a home game against New Mexico this Saturday. Tip time is set for 2 p.m., inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
San José State enters the game with a 2-12 overall record and 0-3 mark in the Mountain West. The team is looking for their first conference win of the season after falling at Utah State, 74-61, where the Spartans attempted a season-high 40 three-pointers and scored a season-high 28 points in the third quarter.
Saturday’s game is the third game in seven days for the Spartans. The team hosted GCU this past Sunday before traveling to Utah State for a matinee game on Wednesday.
ABOUT NEW MEXICO: The Lobos enter Saturday’s game with a 10-4 overall record and 2-1 mark in the Mountain West. The team has conference wins over Boise State (70-63) and Wyoming (62-48) but fell to defending champ UNLV (89-71). Head coach Mike Bradbury is in his 10th year at the school and 19th overall as a head coach.

M. ANDERSON LEADING THE SPARTANS: Maya Anderson leads San José State in scoring with 191 points, 13.6 per game. She has led the team in points scored in eight games including a career-best 29 points in a win over Sacramento State. She has scored in double figures in 10 games this season.
Anderson also leads the team with 87 rebounds, 6.2 per game. She has led the team in boards in five games - 8 at BYU, 9 against UC Santa Barbara, 12 versus Cal State Monterey Bay, 7 against Sacramento State, and 9 against GCU.
FOR THREEEE, FOR DAYS: San José State attempted 40 three-pointers at Utah State on December 30, the second-highest total since 2016 and the highest by a team in the Mountain West this season. The 40 attempts is the most since the 2016-17 team attempted a school-record 43 threes against Saint Mary’s on December 3, 2016.
ANDERSON ONE AWAY FROM RECORD: At Utah State on December 31, Maya Anderson attempted 14 three-pointers in the game. Her 14 are the most attempted by a Spartan since Sabrina Ma tied the school record with 15 attempts against Bethesda. Ma and former Spartan Natalie White own the San José State record at 15. Anderson is tied for second in the Mountain West in threes attempted in a game.

Newcomer Carla Fuster has made 10 threes in her first season in a Spartan uniform.
