SAN JOSE, Calif.—Three Spartans scored in double figures, led by Amira Brown with 16 points, as the San José State women’s basketball team fell to New Mexico, 89-51, Saturday afternoon inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
- Brown was 6-of-13 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.
- Maya Anderson and Stella Sgro each scored 11 points in the loss.
- Anderson led the team in rebounding with nine, followed by Allie Cummins with a career-best seven boards.
- Cummins also scored nine points and grabbed three steals for SJSU.
- The Spartans were limited to just four points in the first quarter and 12 points in the first half.
- San José State shot only 29.8 percent from the field (17-57), but shot 84.6 percent from the free throw line (11-13).
UP NEXT – The Spartans take a short trip over to the Central Valley next Wednesday for a Mountain West game at Fresno State. Tip time is 6:30 p.m., inside the Save Mart Center.
