SAN JOSE, Calif. - Melvin Bell Jr. recorded a career-high 16 points, six rebounds and three assists to lead the San José State men’s basketball team (5-10, 0-4 MW) in a 70-55 loss to Fresno State (7-8, 1-3 MW) Tuesday night from Provident Credit Union Event Center.

The Spartans battled throughout the second half and cut a 21-point deficit down to single digits behind a 12-0 run, but were unable to take control. San José State shot 38.2 percent from the field, while Fresno State connected on 51.9 percent overall.

Jermaine Washington contributed 10 points, six assists, and three steals, while Pasha Goodarzi knocked down two threes.
