COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—San José State women’s gymnasts Kaviana Jurries and Sophie Patterson are the Mountain West Vault Specialists of the Week for their vaults at last Friday night’s quad meet hosted by Boise State.
Jurries and Patterson each scored a career-high 9.875 on vault for the Spartans in the final rotation of the meet. The vault team tied the school record that night with a 49.200 and helped propel the Spartans to a 195.475 to edge out Oregon State (195.450) to take the team title at the quad meet.
Jurries and Patterson won the award for the second consecutive week, and this is Jurries’ third vault specialist award this season.
The vault team currently ranks 19th in the country with a 49.030 average.
UP NEXT – The Spartans host Utah State this Sunday, February 15, at 2 p.m., inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. The meet is designated as the Alumni Meet and My Cause Meet. Alums are also invited to an open practice on Saturday, the 14th, from 3-5 p.m., at the team’s practice gym inside SPX 231.
