SAN JOSE, Calif. - Leata Sherlin had a pair of hits with an RBI to lead San José State softball (1-9, 0-0 MW) in a 6-1 loss to No. 24 Washington (6-3, 0-0 Big 10) in the final day of the SVC Classic I on Sunday from Spartan Softball Stadium.
The Huskies scored three runs in the second inning and added single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to secure the victory. San José State broke through in the fourth inning but was unable to overcome Washington’s early lead.
Washington finished with nine hits and six runs, while the Spartans recorded three hits and left five on base.
- Sherlin led the Spartans at the plate, going 2-for-3 and had her first career RBI
- Reina Zermeno added one hit in three at-bats
- Shay McDowell had the lone Spartan run
UP NEXT: The Spartans will next travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to participate in the Mustang Classic from Friday, Feb. 20, to Sunday, Feb. 22.
