SPARTANS BEGIN HOMESTAND WITH AGGIES:  The San José State women’s basketball team returns to the Provident Credit Union Event Center this week for two home games, beginning with Utah State on Wednesday night. Utah State won the earlier meeting, 74-61, in Logan to end 2025. This will be the final conference game between the schools. They have played each other as members of the Western Athletic Conference before both schools joined the Mountain West in 2013-14.

San José State enters Wednesday’s game with a 3-23 overall record and a 1-14 mark in the Mountain West. The Spartans fell at Air Force, 77-61, this past Saturday. Maya Anderson led SJSU with 16 points and six rebounds, while Amira Brown added 15 points, including 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.

ABOUT UTAH STATE:  The Aggies enter Wednesday’s game with a 6-18 overall record and a 2-13 mark in the conference. The team’s only conference wins came in a 65-53 home win over Air Force (Dec. 17) and a 74-61 home win over the Spartans (Dec. 31). Head coach Wesley Brooks is in his second season at the helm of the program.

M. ANDERSON LEADING THE SPARTANS:  Maya Anderson leads San José State in scoring with 344 points, 13.2 per game. She has led the team in points scored in 14 games including a career-best 29 points in a win over Sacramento State. She has scored in double figures in 19 games this season.

Anderson also leads the team with 170 rebounds, 6.5 per game. She has led the team in boards in 13 games including the past two games - at New Mexico with 5 and at Air Force with 6.
