Myers Goes for 34 and Ties SJSU Three Point Record in Win at Air Force

USAFA, Colo. – Adrian Myers scored 34 points on 11-of-18 shooting, knocking down 8-of-9 from beyond the arc to tie the SJSU single-game record for made three-pointers, to lead the San José State men’s basketball team (8-20, 3-14 MW) in a 86-80 victory over Air Force (3-25, 0-17 MW) Tuesday night in the at Clune Arena. 

Colby Garland complemented Myers with 23 points, going a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line and adding five assists. Sadraque NgaNga also chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds. SJSU shot 49 percent from the field and 54 percent from three (13-of-24). 

Air Force would open the game on an 11-2 run, but the Spartans would bounce back behind 18 first half points from Myers and lead by five at the break, 42-37. The Falcons would take a brief one point lead early in the second half. However, multiple Spartan threes gave the Spartans a 12 point lead with just under seven minutes to go. Garland iced the game at the stripe in the final seconds.

  • Myers’ 34 points was the most scored in a game by a Spartan since Richard Washington scored 35 against Colorado State on Jan. 14, 2021
  • Myers’ 34 points, 11 made field goals and eight made threes all set new career-highs
  • Myers joins Trey Smith and Noah Baumann as the only Spartans in history to hit eight threes in a game. Myers, however, did it on the fewest attempts
  • Myers has now scored 20 or more points in three consecutive games, averaging 26 points per game in that span
  • This was Myers’ first career 30 point game
  • Myers is the eighth Spartan to score 30 or more points in a game over the last three seasons and the second Spartan to do it this season
  • Garland has now scored 20 or more in seven consecutive games, the longest streak for the Spartans since Adrian Oliver did it in the 2009-10 season
  • This marks Garland’s 15th 20-plus point outing this season and the 18th of his career
  • This is the third game this season where Garland has made 10 or more free throws
  • Jermaine Washington recorded eight points and four assists and knocked down two threes in his return to the court after a five game absence
  • The Spartans made 13 threes in the game, the fifth time in their last seven games they have knocked down double-digit threes
  • The Spartans have now won eight in a row over Air Force
  • The Spartans have also now won two out of their last three games
