COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Kaviana Jurries, Sophie Patterson and Genesis PeBenito have all earned recognitions this week from the Mountain West Conference for their performances in Sunday’s tri-meet.
Kaviana Jurries, Vault Specialist of the Week
- Tied for first with a 9.850 on vault
- Won her third consecutive vault title
- Ranked second in the MW on the vault with Patterson
Sophie Patterson, Vault Specialist of the Week
- Tied for first on the vault with a 9.850
- First collegiate vault title won
- Ranked second in the MW on the vault with Jurries
Genesis PeBenito, Beam Specialist of the Week, Freshman of the Week
- Won the beam with a season-high 9.900
- Just the 28th time in school history that a gymnast has received that score on beam
- First collegiate event title won
- Ranks second in the conference on beam with a 9.800 average
UP NEXT – The Spartans travel to Boise State this Friday for a quad meet with the Broncos, Oregon State and UC Davis at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT. SJSU returns home on Sunday, February 15, for a dual meet with Utah State at 2 p.m.
