SPARTANS HOST BULLDOGS WEDNESDAY:  The San José State women’s basketball team hosts two games this week, starting with Fresno State this Wednesday evening inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. The game marks the second half of the conference season as this is the second time the two teams will face each other this year. Fresno State won the earlier meeting, 67-52.

San José State enters the game with a 3-19 overall record and a 1-10 mark in the Mountain West. The Spartans are looking to keeps its home winning streak alive after defeating Nevada, 60-57, on January 21. SJSU is also looking to break a two-game losing streak after falling at MW leader San Diego State and at Boise State the past two games.

ABOUT FRESNO STATE:  The Bulldogs enter Wednesday night’s game with a 10-13 overall record and a 4-8 mark in the conference. The team is eighth in the MW standings, one game behind Wyoming, and lost their last game played, at Air Force 61-56, this past Saturday. Head coach Ryan McCarthy is in his first season at the helm of the program after coaching 13 seasons at Alaska Anchorage.

Carla Fuster and Allie Cummins each scored 11 points to lead SJSU in the January game. The Spartans were 24-of-32 from teh free throw line and outscored the Bulldogs, 29-21, in the second half of the game.

The Spartans led wire-to-wire, and Sabrina Ma had a team-high 20 points in the win.

BROWN ADDS TO THE 20+-POINT PARADE: Amira Brown recorded her second 20-point game of the season as she led the Spartans in scoring at Boise State with 20 points. She was 6-for-12 from the field, 4-for-7 from three-point range and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. She joined the Spartan party of those scoring 20 or more points in a game this year with 22 at Colorado State on January 17. She was 7-for-14 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Brown, Maya Anderson and Alllie Cummins have scored 20 or more points in a game this year.
