SPARTANS HOST MOUNTAIN WEST LEADER SATURDAY: For the second time in two weeks, the San José State women’s basketball team will face Mountain West leader San Diego State. The two teams met on January 24 in San Diego, and now face each other Saturday inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. The Aztecs won the earlier meeting, 94-66.
San José State enters the game with a 3-20 overall record and a 1-11 mark in the Mountain West. The Spartans fell Wednesday night to Fresno State, 79-50, as Maya Anderson led the team with 14 points and nine rebounds.
ABOUT SAN DIEGO STATE: The Aztecs enter Saturday’s game atop the Mountain West standings with an 11-1 conference record and 17-4 overall record. The team fell at Grand Canyon, 57-44, Wednesday night. Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson is in her 13th season at the school with a 196-199 coaching record. SDSU has recorded 20+ wins in each of the past three seasons.
