KOHALA, Hawai‘i - Behind a second consecutive round of 68 (-4) from Ivan Barahona, the San José State men’s golf team climbed three spots on Friday to sit in a tie for 11th place heading into the final round of the Amer Ari Invitational.
Playing at the Mauna Lani Resort, the Spartans combined for a two-day total of 559 (-17). In a field featuring 12 ranked programs, SJSU currently holds a lead over three of them, including UCLA and North Carolina.
Individual Highlights
- Barahona: Posted six birdies on Friday to card his second straight 68. He sits in a tie for 19th place with an overall score of 136 (-8).
- Keshav "KC" Mungali: Recorded four birdies to finish the day with a 70 (-2). He is currently tied for 33rd with a 138 (-6).
- Christian Maggard: Shook off the opening round to fire a 70 (-2) on Friday, featuring four birdies. He enters the final round at 144 (E).
- Jed Dy: Carded an even-par 72 on Friday, highlighted by one of the team's two eagles on the day. He sits at 146 (+2) overall.
- Avinash Iyer: Tallied five birdies on Friday to finish with a 74 (+2), placing him in a tie for 70th at 143 (-1).
Individual Competitors: Itai Cohen turned in a 75 (+3) sparked by an eagle, while Xuan Luo finished the day with a 76 (+4).
