BOISE, Idaho—The Spartan vault team, led by Kaviana Jurries and Sophie Patterson, tied the school record with a 49.200 to lead the San José State women’s gymnastics team to a meet-winning 195.475 team score Friday night at the Boise State quad meet at ExtraMile Arena.
Jurries and Patterson tied for first on vault for the second consecutive week as they each tied their career best at 9.875. Devyn Valuch started the rotation with a 9.775, followed by Samantha Macasu at 9.750. Then, the Spartans had three straight stuck landings with Ava Johnson at 9.850, Jurries and Patterson. Mikaela Pitts finished the rotation with a 9.825.
The vault team tied the school record of 49.200, set at a quad meet at Denver on March 3, 2024.

The Spartans started the meet scoring a season-high 48.975 on bars, led by Victoria Kisch’s season-best 9.850. Jurries followed with a 9.825, Macasu at 9.800, and Patterson and Genesis PeBenito at 9.750.
Marissa Ashton and PeBenito tied for second on beam at 9.800 to lead the Spartans in the second rotation.
Johnson had the top floor score for SJSU for the second consecutive meet with a 9.800.
San José State, Oregon State and Boise State were within 0.175 of each other after three rotations. The Spartans’ 49.200 on vault propelled them to win, while Oregon State scored a 49.100 on bars, and Boise State had a 48.900 on floor.
UP NEXT – The Spartans return to the Provident Credit Union Event Center for three consecutive weeks, starting with Sunday the 15th, against Utah State at 2 p.m. The meet is designated as the Alumni Meet and My Cause Meet. Alums and donors are invited to an open practice on Saturday, the 14th, from 3-5 p.m. in the team’s practice gym, SPX 231.
