KOHALA, Hawai‘i - Ivan Barahona carded a final-round 70 (-2) to finish tied for 33rd, leading the San José State men’s golf team to a 13th-place finish at the prestigious Amer Ari Invitational on Saturday.

The Spartans posted a tournament total of 839 (-25) at the Mauna Lani Resort, notably finishing ahead of No. 26 UCLA in a competitive field that featured 12 ranked programs.

Individual Highlights

  • Barahona: Finished with a three-day total of 206 (-10). Barahona displayed remarkable consistency, shooting under par in all three rounds and punctuating his performance with four birdies on Saturday.
  • Keshav "KC" Mungali: Fired the team’s low round of the day with a 69 (-3). Mungali racked up five birdies on Saturday to finish one stroke behind Barahona at 207 (-9), placing him in a tie for 38th and also shot under par in all three rounds.
  • Christian Maggard & Avinash Iyer: Both finished tied for 76th with a total of 214 (-2). Maggard turned in a strong 70 (-2) on Saturday, while Iyer provided the highlight of the round with the team’s lone eagle to finish with a 71 (-1).
  • Jed Dy: Rounded out the Spartan lineup with a 74 (+2) on Saturday, finishing the tournament with a total of 220 (+4).
  • Competing as individuals, Xuan Luo saved his best for last with an even-par 72 on Saturday, while Itai Cohen finished with a 79.
