Mungali and Barahona Lead Spartans in First Day of The Desimone Invitational

DALY CITY, Calif. - Led by standout performances from Keshav "KC" Mungali and Ivan Barahona, the San José State men’s golf team sits in a tie for seventh place after the first two rounds of The Desimone Invitational at Lake Merced Golf Club.

The Spartans combined for a 13-under-par 563, placing them ahead of six ranked programs, including No. 4 Texas.

Leaderboard Highlights

  • Mungali & Barahona (T6th): Both golfers finished the day at 7-under-par (137). Mungali surged in the second round with a 67, featuring an eagle and four birdies. Barahona opened strong with a 67 of his own and added an eagle in round two to maintain his position near the top of the leaderboard.
  • Avinash Iyer (T28th): Iyer remained consistent, carding a 3-under 141 (69-72) to stay inside the top 30.
  • Xuan Luo (T70th): After an opening 76, Luo bounced back in the second round with an even-par 72 to finish at 4-over (148).
  • Jed Dy (T76th): Dy finished the day at 5-over (149) after rounds of 76 and 73.
  • Itai Cohen (Individual): Competing as an individual, Cohen carded rounds of 78 and 76.
