LOS ANGELES—Darcy Spark scored a hat trick, and Sarah Woren and Rose Jensen scored penalty shots as the No. 18 San José State women’s water polo team fell at No. 2 UCLA, 19-5, Saturday afternoon.
Woren got the Spartans on the scoreboard first on a penalty shot, drawn by Spark, with 7:07 on the clock in the first quarter. The Spartan goal tied the match at 1-1.
Jensen scored the team’s next goal in the third quarter, again taking the penalty shot after Spark drew the penalty.
Spark then scored all three Spartan goals in the fourth quarter. Nynke Willemsen assisted on two of her goals.
