San José State Dominates Relays and Sprints at West Coast Relays

CLOVIS, Calif. – San José State track and field delivered a powerhouse performance at the West Coast Relays this Saturday, highlighted by a clean sweep of the 4x100m relay events and several top individual finishes.

  • Zoe Ewell, Nakai Johnson, Sharli’e McCuller, Leila Champion, and Vivienne Magu secured first place in the women’s 4x100m relay with a combined time of 44.73
  • Jared Jones, Dontae Smith, Spencer Gray, and David Botts also took home the gold in the men's 4x100m relay, crossing the finish line in 40.43
  • Ewell won the women's 100m dash overall and placed first in her heat with a time of 11.59
  • McCuller followed her teammate in the 100m dash to place second in her heat and fourth overall (11.84), while also finishing fourth overall in the 200m dash (24.09)
  • Julius Baker earned a second-place overall finish in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.38
  • Hayden Bowne finished shortly after in the 110m hurdles to take fifth place overall with a time of 14.43
  • Riley Costales placed third overall in the women's 100m hurdles after crossing the line in 14.24
  • Marcel Bovell took fourth place overall in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 53.19
  • Malia Seki finished the afternoon by placing fourth overall in the women’s 1500m run

     

    UP NEXT: The Spartans will compete in the Brutus Hamilton Invitation and the Stanford Invitational in Berkeley, Calif., and Palo Alto, Calif., on Friday, 3, and Saturday, April 4.
