FRESNO, Calif. – Colby Garland scored 26 points and Adrian Myers recorded 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the San José State men’s basketball team (8-22, 3-16 MW) in a 82-68 loss to Fresno State (13-17, 7-12 MW) Tuesday night from the Save Mart Center.
Fresno State shot 57.1% (8-14) from three-point range in the first half to take a 45-34 lead into the locker room. The Spartans fought back and were able to cut the deficit to as few as five with 12:48 left to go. The Spartans struggled from the charity stripe, finishing the game just 47.4% (9-19) on free throws. Fresno State capitalized on the misses and regained momentum late, extending their lead to as many as 15 points in the closing minutes to secure the victory.
- Garland has now scored 20 or more in nine straight games, the longest streak for a Spartan since Olivier Saint-Jean had a 14 game streak of 20-plus points in 1996-97
- Garland has now scored 20 or more points 17 times this season and 20 times in his career
- Garland shot 10-for-18 from the field and also collected three assists
- This was Myers’ second double-double of the season and his career
- Myers’ 16 rebounds was the most by a Spartan since Robert Vaihola grabbed 19 boards on March 8, 2025 against Fresno State
- Melvin Bell Jr. reached double-figures with 10 points
- Marcus Overstreet tallied four points, eight rebounds, two steals and a block off the bench
- The Spartans outscored the Bulldogs 42-22 in points in the paint and 11-0 in points off turnovers
