SAN JOSE, Calif. – Colby Garland recorded 24 points and five assists to lead the San José State men’s basketball team (8-23, 3-17 MW) in a 88-78 loss to Wyoming (18-13, 9-11 MW) Saturday afternoon from the Provident Credit Union Event Center in the final game of the regular season.
The Spartans’ celebrated Senior Day during the game, honoring Yaphet Moundi and Sadraque NgaNga for their contributions to the team and program.

Wyoming built its largest lead of 21 points late in the first half and carried a 49-36 advantage into the break. San José State was able to trim the deficit to 10 on multiple occasions, but the Cowboys prevented the Spartans from drawing closer.
San José State shot 54 percent (30-of-56) from the field and held a 50-44 advantage in points in the paint. The Spartans also generated 13 fast-break points and 15 points off Wyoming turnovers. However, the Cowboys connected on 57 percent (32-of-56) from the floor, including 9-of-19 (47 percent) from three-point range, and were a perfect 15-of-15 from the free throw line. The Spartans won the turnover battle 12-5 but were outrebounded by the Cowboys 31-21.
Adrian Myers finished with 17 points and two blocks, while Jermaine Washington added 14 points. Melvin Bell Jr. also reached double-figures, scoring 11 points and grabbing four boards.
- Garland has now scored 20 points or more in 10 straight games, the longest streak for the Spartans since Olivier Saint-Jean scored 20-plus in 14 consecutive games in 1996-97
- Garland has now scored 547 points so far this season, putting him at seventh for the most points in a season in SJSU history. With 24 points in today’s game, Garland cracked the top-10 and passed Josh Uduje in 2025, Chris McNealy in 1983, Ryan Welage in 2018 and Ricky Berry in 1987 on the list
- This is Garland’s 18th game scoring 20 points or more this season and 21st of his career
- Garland shot 8-for-16 from the field and 8-for-9 from the line in the game
- Bell has scored 267 points so far this season, the most by a Spartan freshmen since Keith Fisher III who scored 312 points in 2017-18
- Myers has now scored in double-figures in seven straight games
- Douglas Langford tied his career-high with three blocks and also recorded two steals
- Washington tallied three steals which also tied his career-high
- The Spartans’ seven blocks was a season-high
