SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State softball team (11-21, 3-6 MW) will host Fresno State (13-15, 3-6 MW) in the final series as conference opponents this weekend. The two have been facing off in the Mountain West since 2013.
All three games can be watched on Mountain West Network. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
- The Spartans currently hold a 24-101 record over the Bulldogs dating back to 1986. The Spartans swept the Bulldogs in a doubleheader in 2023
- The last time the Spartans defeated the Bulldogs was last season on March 27 in a 2-0 game on the road
- The last time the Spartans defeated the Bulldogs at home was on April 1, 2022, in a 4-0 game
- Reina Zermeno currently leads the team with 20 RBIs, three of which came off of her sixth homerun of the year against Nevada
- In 2023, the Spartans went to the Mountain West Championship game with 27 total wins which included 11 conference wins, which were the most for SJSU since 2019. The Spartans played in the NISC postseason tournament, the first postseason appearance for the Spartans since 2017.
- In 2025, the Spartans clinched a spot to the Mountain West Tournament after going 22-28.
- Senior shortstop Ahmiya Noriega was selected to the 2026 Mountain West Preseason Team. Noriega led the nation in triples last season with 10 while having a .352 avg, 26 hits and two homeruns.
