SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Avinash Iyer led the San José State men’s golf team during the second round of The 79th Western Intercollegiate Presented by Titleist on Tuesday at Pasatiempo Golf Club, carding a 1-under 69.
The Spartans surged up the leaderboard, jumping two spots and moving ahead of multiple ranked teams. The team posted a collective second-round score of 715 (+15).
Individual Performance on Tuesday and Standings
The Spartans saw a consistent performance across the roster, with several players recording multiple birdies and crucial eagles to keep the team in the hunt.
- Iyer: T-25th (140, E) — Shot a 69 (-1), highlighted by four birdies.
- Ivan Barahona: T-25th (140, E) — Shot a 71 (+1) with three birdies.
- Keshav "KC" Mungali: T-35th (142, +2) — Shot a 70 (E), aided by an eagle.
- Itai Cohen: T-57th (146, +6) — Shot a 72 (+2) with four birdies.
- Christian Maggard: T-71st (149, +9) — Shot a 71 (+1) with four birdies.
