SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Ivan Barahona delivered an impressive final round, carding a 5-under-par 65 to lead the San José State men’s golf team at the 79th Western Intercollegiate Presented by Titleist on Wednesday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
As a team, the Spartans finished 11th overall with a three-round total of 1072 (+22), outperforming two ranked programs. A highlight of the day came on the 9th hole, where six of the seven Spartans birdied the par-4.
Individual Performance Breakdown
- Barahona paced the field for the Spartans, finishing in a tie for 8th place with a tournament total of 205 (-5). His final-round 65 marked his lowest score of the season and was fueled by six birdies on the day.
- Avinash Iyer continued his strong form, carding a 69 (-1) on the final day to finish with a tournament total of 209 (-1), earning him a tie for 18th place and back-to-back days shooting a 69.
- Keshav "KC" Mungali completed his tournament effort with a final-round 76 (+6), resulting in a tournament total of 218 (+8) and a tie for 59th place.
- Itai Cohen provided consistent play throughout the final day, carding a 75 (+5) to conclude the event with a 221 (+11) total, placing him in a tie for 65th.
- Jed Dy contributed a solid final round of 72 (+2) to the Spartans’ team total, finishing the tournament with a 222 (+12) to place in a tie for 71st.
- Christian Maggard rounded out the Spartan lineup, carding a 79 (+9) in the final round to finish in 87th place with a 228 (+18).
- Competing as an individual, Xuan Luo maintained a steady performance throughout the tournament, carding a 75 (+5) in the final round to finish in 55th place with a total of 217 (+7).
