STANFORD, Calif. – The Spartans track and field team put up impressive numbers during the opening day of the Stanford Invitational, headlined by several qualifying performances for Saturday’s finals.
- In the men's 110m hurdles, Hayden Bowne and Julius Baker both secured spots in Saturday’s final after Bowne won his heat to place third overall (14.66) and Baker finished third in his heat to take sixth overall (14.53)
- Zoe Ewell dominated the women’s sprints, advancing to the 100m dash final by winning her heat and placing fourth overall (11.75) before going on to take second in her 200m heat and eighth overall (24.18)
- Audrey McElmurry represented the Spartans on the podium in the field, earning a third-place finish in the women’s long jump with a leap of 5.70m (18’ 8 ½”)
- Marcel Bovell captured first place in his heat and finished ninth overall in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 53.07
- Spencer Gray rounded out the day's highlights in the men’s 400m dash, taking third in his heat and 15th overall with a time of 48.25
UP NEXT: The Spartans will compete in the Brutus Hamilton Invitational and the Stanford Invitational in Berkeley, Calif., and Palo Alto, Calif., on Saturday, April 4.
