BERKELEY, Calif. – Zoe Ewell spearheaded a powerhouse performance for San José State at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on Saturday, clocking two massive personal bests and a first-place finish to lead the Spartans' charge.
Ewell dominated the track, shaving nearly half a second off her previous best in the women’s 200m dash to take gold with a time of 23.76. She continued her momentum in the 100m dash, securing second place with a blistering 11.45, shattering her old mark of 11.69.
- Alexander Walker surged to a first-place finish in the men’s 800m run, crossing the line at 1:55.38, Walker went on to claim third place in the men’s 1-mile run with a time of 4:17.32
- Marcel Bovell captured the top spot in the men’s 400m hurdles with a decisive time of 52.84
- The women’s 4x100 relay —featuring Ewell, Nakai Johnson, Sharli’e McCuller, Leila Champion, Vivienne Magu, and Aaliyah Hasni—took first place with a collective time of 44.76
- The men’s 4x100 relay team of Spencer Gray, Aiden Stalnecker, David Botts, and Nathaniel Guillory earned a second-place finish, clocking in at 40.53
- Amanda Chalburg led a strong Spartan contingent in the women’s 1-mile run, placing second (5:13.25), followed by teammates Isabela Arreola (third, 5:25.61) and Elizabeth Scott (fourth, 5:28.56)
- Julius Baker secured second in the men’s 110m hurdles (14.21), with teammate Hayden Bowne finishing right behind him in third (14.29)
- McCuller notched a pair of podium finishes, taking second in the women’s 200m dash (24.26) and third in the 100m dash (11.72)
- Magu earned a bronze finish in the women’s 400m dash, posting a time of 56.22
- Kaitlin Seigle rounded out the Spartan highlights with a strong performance in the women’s 800m run, finishing in 2:14.66
