FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Ahmiya Noriega went 6-for-7, including going perfect at the plate in the second game of a doubleheader, to lead the San José State softball team (11-26, 3-11 MW) in both 5-2 losses to Colorado State (20-19, 8-6 MW).

GAME ONE
After two scoreless innings, Colorado State opened the scoring in the third inning with a single to put the Rams up, 1-0.
The Spartans responded in the fifth inning, Carly Cummings was walked and stole second. Sophia Burdick followed it up with a single to right to put runners on the corners. Haley Reeve then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Burdick into scoring position. Ahmiya Noriega went down in a 0-2 count, lined a ball down the right-field line for a double to score both Cummings and Burdick, putting the Spartans up 2-1 in the fifth.
The Rams knotted the game back up in the bottom half of the fifth with a single. Colorado State then put up three runs in the sixth inning to secure the game 5-2.
- Noriega went 3-for-4 with two RBIs
- Sophia Burdick went 2-for-3
- Gigi Ortega pinch-hit and reached base with a hit
- Delaney Faus recorded two strikeouts and is now two away from 50 on the season
GAME TWO
In the top of the first, Shay McDowell brought in Reeve from third on a fielder's choice.
The Rams responded with a three-run bottom of the first inning. They then put up two more runs in the bottom of the third inning, making the score 5-1.
In the top of the sixth inning, Burdick led off the inning with a single on the first pitch she saw. She was moved over to second on a Reeve ground ball, with Noriega next up on the plate. Noriega doubled to left field and traded places with Burdick to bring in the last Spartan run, making the score 5-2.
- Noriega went perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3
- Reina Zermeno, Samantha Blachly, Reeve, Ortega and Burdick each collected a hit
UP NEXT: The Spartans will return home to face off against San Diego State in a two-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both games can be watched on Mountain West Network.
