Spark Named Second Team Delfina All-MPSF As Spartans Prepare for MPSF Tournament

SAN JOSE, Calif.—San José State women’s water polo player Darcy Spark has been honored by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as she was named to the Delfina All-MPSF Second Team for the second consecutive season.

Spark is second in the MPSF in goals scored with 87. She ranks fourth on the San José State single-season list and needs just 11 goals to tie Rae Lekness for the most goals in a season at 98. Spark has scored three or more goals in 14 matches, including eight against Pomona Pitzer, seven in three matches and six against UC San Diego and California.

Spark also scored her 200th career goal against Azusa Pacific last month and enters the weekend with 206 career goals, tying with Juliet Moss for the fifth-most goals in school history.

The 19th-ranked Spartans open MPSF Championship Tournament play this Friday, April 10, against No. 2-ranked Stanford at 11 a.m., at the Spieker Aquatics Center in Berkeley, Calif. The winner of the match plays the winner of No. 1 USC vs. the winner of UCLA-Indiana on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The loser of Friday’s match plays at 11 a.m. against the loser of UCLA-Indiana.
