CLOVIS, Calif. – The San Jose State Spartans track and field team opened the Mountain West Championships with strong performances, securing multiple qualifiers for Saturday's finals. Sharli'e McCuller led the way by winning her heat and placing fourth overall in the women's 200m dash prelims (23.56), earning a spot in the final round.
- Zoe Ewell had a strong finish in the women's 200m dash prelims, placing second in her heat and ninth overall with a time of 23.82
- Nathaniel Guillory placed second in his heat in the men's 200m dash prelim with a time of 21.35 and placed sixth overall, qualifying him for the finals on Saturday
- Spencer Gray also qualified for the men's 200m finals on Saturday, coming in third in his heat and eighth overall with a time of 21.21
- David Botts placed third in his heat in the men's 200m prelims and placed eleventh overall with a time of 21.42
- Zion Shelton placed fifth in the men’s 400m hurdles prelims, placing eleventh overall with a time of 56.68
