BALTIMORE - The Toronto Blue Jays have called up former San José State second baseman Charles McAdoo, the organization announced on Thursday. McAdoo will become the first SJSU graduate to play in the MLB since Kevin Frandsen who played in the MLB from 2006-2015.
McAdoo joins the Blue Jays after starting the 2026 season with the Buffalo Bisons in AAA. In 50 games with the Bison this season, he was hitting .250/.357/.432 to go along with eight home runs, 27 RBIs and 29 walks. McAdoo was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 13th round of the 2023 draft, but later traded to the Blue Jays.
McAdoo, who played at SJSU from 2021-23, was one of the best hitters in SJSU history and helped the Spartans win the Mountain West Championship in 2023. McAdoo ranks in the SJSU top 10 in career RBIs, doubles and home runs. McAdoo was named First Team All-Mountain West in 2022 and 2023 and was a Collegiate Baseball All-American Second Team member in 2022.
McAdoo is originally from Antioch, California and graduated from De La Salle HS.
The Blue Jays will next play the Baltimore Orioles later today at 3:35 PT from Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
