SJSU to Host Community Training Session with Paraguay National Team

SAN JOSÉ, Calif. - On Monday, June 8, San José State University will host a community training session with the Paraguay National Team as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup 2026™. The event is open to members of the community, including local youth soccer leagues, to have an opportunity to watch the squad train and interact with the Paraguayan team members before the start of tournament play. Fans will need to register and RSVP to attend.

Spartan Soccer Complex at San José State University is serving as the official Team Base Camp Training Site for the Paraguay National Team throughout the group stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026™. This historic collaboration welcomes one of South America’s most prominent football programs to the heart of Silicon Valley for the largest FIFA World Cup™ in history.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Gustavo Alfaro, the Paraguayan squad will utilize the university's state-of-the-art pitches and sports medicine facilities to prepare for their Group D matches, including their highly anticipated matchup against the United States at Los Angeles Stadium on June 12.

Event Details

When:

  • Monday, June 8, 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Where:

  • Spartan Soccer Complex (Same complex as the football stadium) 

Schedule:

  • 4:30 p.m. - Gates open
  • 5:15 p.m. - Paraguay National Team training session
  • 6:00 p.m. - Photo ops and team autographs, along with a presentation by SJSU leadership to the Paraguay National Team

Parking can be found in the adjacent 7th Street Park and Ride (1281 S Seventh St., San Jose, CA).
