SAN JOSE, Calif.—The San José State women’s tennis team continues to build its academic trophy case this summer as the team received 2026 Division I Women’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete and All-Academic Team recognition.
Five Spartans received Scholar-Athlete recognition – Katarina Brajovic, Emma Fantousis, Duru Durgun, Soledad Fayos Capilla, and Cristina Mateos Losada. Durgun and Fayos Capilla earned their second honors, while the other three earned their first honor.
For the 15th consecutive year, San José State earned ITA All-Academic Team honors, which recognize teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Earlier this summer, all seven Spartans on the roster received Academic All-Mountain West recognition.
Women's tennis was the only SJSU sport to have all its student-athletes named to the Academic All-Mountain West team.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
