SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State men’s soccer head coach Simon Tobin announced Friday that he will retire on August 31st, and Jesus “Chuy” Sanchez will be named Interim Head Coach. Additionally, Jamie Reid will return to the men's soccer team's coaching staff as Associate Head Coach.
"We are incredibly grateful for Simon’s dedication, leadership, and the countless hours he has invested in developing our student-athletes and building this soccer program," said Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "Having had the opportunity to work alongside Simon at both Cal State Bakersfield and San José State has been tremendous, and I have great respect for the impact he has made throughout his career.
"Chuy Sanchez will serve as our interim head coach for our program, as he has learned under Coach Tobin, understands the culture and expectations that have been established, and is well positioned to provide continuity for our student-athletes. We look forward to Coach Sanchez building on that foundation.”
