SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The San José State women's soccer team (0-3-0) was led by Indigo Sims, who took two shots, including one on goal, in the 3-0 loss to Cal Poly (2-1-0).
Sims recorded her first shot in the 19th minute with a rocket that barely missed the left side of the net. She recorded her second in the 85th minute, forcing the keeper to dive to the bottom-left corner.
Cal Poly broke through in the 27th minute and scored again in the 30th minute, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. Capitalizing on its momentum, the Mustangs scored again in the 48th minute and were unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the match.
The Spartans recorded six shots in the second half, five of which were on goal.
Myanne Fernandes, Paige Pineda-Aliamus, Nicole Moita de Deus, Kiara Anima and Sims were the five Spartans who each challenged the keeper to make a save.
- Kelsie Luquin recorded her first start for the Spartans and made six saves.
- Paige Fry entered the match in the 56th minute and made two saves.
- Elizabeth Ortega made her debut.
