OGDEN, Utah—Three Spartans recorded double-doubles in the first match of the season, led by Zuzana Kosíková with 16 kills and 15 digs as the San José State volleyball team opened the 2026 season at the Wildcat Invitational with a 3-2 loss to Belmont.
- Kosíková made her Spartan debut, leading the team in kills, digs, and aces (two). She hit .333 for the match.
- Lolohea Fonua recorded her first collegiate double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs.
- Fatimah Hall recorded her 21st collegiate double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs.
- Two other Spartans had double-digit kill matches. Tatiana Robinson tied her career-best with 14 kills on 22 attempts and only one error (.591).
- Naima Foster added 13 kills and hit .303 for the match (13-3-33).
- San José State recorded 11 blocks in the match, led by Learden Lee with five, followed by Aniyah Hall with four and Robinson, Foster and Fonua with three each.
- Seven players made their debut in a Spartan uniform – Orian Drore, Kosíková, Florence Campeau, Kylee Sells, Eva Vostracká, Hanna Darvas and Hall (missed 2025 due to injury).
- The Spartans won the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-18, hitting above .400 in both sets - .417 in the first set (12-2-24) and .424 in the second set (18-4-33).
- Robinson led the Spartans in the fourth set with six kills and three blocks, helping SJSU jump out to an early 7-4 lead.
