SAN JOSE, Calif. — San Jose State University Athletics today officially unveiled its highly anticipated promotional schedule and theme days for the 2026 Spartan Football season at CEFCU Stadium. Featuring an expansive seven-game home slate, the 2026 season promises an unparalleled fan experience, blending rich South Bay traditions, community cultural celebrations, high-energy student events, and premium pre-game food and beverage experiences.
The action kicks off on Saturday, September 12, with a celebration of San Jose’s iconic automotive heritage against Cal Poly. Opening night will also feature the annual student tradition, "The Charge," where thousands of SJSU students rush the field. Additionally, fans can experience the Sparta Kickoff Fest presented by Modelo, showcasing regional craft beer and barbecue vendors in the pregame Block Party fan zone, all while celebrating LatinX Heritage Night.
The momentum continues Saturday, September 19, when rival Fresno State visits for the return of the historic "Battle for the Valley" during Bay Area Sports Night presented by Habbas Law. Partnering with some of the Bay Area’s favorite local professional franchises, the night serves as a massive youth sports celebration. The game will also host the annual Band Day, showcasing local high school musicians performing alongside the Spartan Marching Band at halftime, alongside a celebration of Pacific Islander Heritage Night.
October brings a marquee matchup on Friday, October 9, against Wyoming for the 2026 Homecoming game. In addition to welcoming back alumni, the Spartans will honor the 20th anniversary of the historic 2006 New Mexico Bowl Championship Team. Younger fans can also take part in Sammy Spartan's Birthday Celebration in the pre-game Block Party area.
A special Halloween showdown on Saturday, October 31, against New Mexico will be presented by Rotten Robbie. Families are invited to safely trick-or-treat in the pre-game fan zone before enjoying a captivating halftime show featuring local dancers for the annual Youth Spirit Day.
November features three massive home games starting on Saturday, November 7, against Northern Illinois for Parent & Family Weekend, complete with the premium Brew & Vine pre-game tasting event and a Veterans Day-adjacent Military & First Responders Salute to Service.
On Saturday, November 21, against UNLV, the university will honor campus trailblazers during Faculty & Staff Appreciation, celebrate Native American Heritage Day, recognize educators via the nationwide Extra Yards for Teachers initiative, and host a high-energy Student Appreciation Day filled with giveaways, on-field contests and more.
The home schedule concludes on Black Friday, Friday, November 27, against North Dakota State, presented by CEFCU. The home finale features Senior Day and Fan Appreciation festivities, coupled with exclusive Black Friday sales, offering the best deals of the entire year.
