SAN JOSE, Calif. - Mekhi Mason, a 6-4 guard transfer from Wake Forest, will join the San José State men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season, as announced by head coach Tim Miles.

- Appearing in 34 games with 12 starts for Wake Forest last season where he averaged 7.4 points per game and connected on 46 three-point attempts, the third-most on the team
- Last season, reached double-figures in scoring nine times and twice hit the 20-point mark, including a 20 point-10 rebound game against American (Nov.3) and a 26 point game off the bench against Virginia (March 3)
- Played at Washington in 2024-25 where he appeared in 31 games and made 20 starts, including the final 11 games of the season
- Registered 9.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game and averaged 10.6 points per game in Big Ten play, including 15.4 PPG over the final seven games in 2024-25
- Spent his first two collegiate seasons at Rice
- Was one of three Rice players to start all 32 games in 2023-24 and was second on the team with 14.0 points per game, 2.8 assists per game, 30 steals and a .343 three-point field goal percentage
- Scored a career-high 30 points at UTSA (Feb. 3, 2023) earning him AAC Player of the Week honors
- Named Conference USA All-Freshman Team his freshmen season in 2022-23 and led the league with four C-USA Freshman of the Week awards
- Started all 35 games as a freshman, averaging 9.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists
- Also led the team in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on .375 percent in 2022-23
- Played for Ed Gipson at Arizona Compass Prep, where he helped them to a 28-2 record, including a perfect 7-0 in the Skyline Education Conference
- Was a McDonald’s All-American game nominee
