PRINCETON, N.J.- Sam Keightley dominated, opening the Princeton Invitational by scoring nine goals to lead the No. 11 San José State men's water polo team (3-1, 0-0 WCC) in wins against Wagner (1-6, 0-0 MAWPC), 18-6, and LIU (4-4, 0-0 NWPC), 22-10, on the first day of the Princeton Invitational on Friday.
vs. Wagner
- Sam Keightley set the pace with a game-high four goals.
- Zalan Hegedus, Bence Kristok and Samu Biros each added two goals.
- Péter Kolos Kohári, Giancarlo Marquez, Mitchell Keightley, Liam Dodunski, Palmer Macbeth, Aron Sárfalvi, Zach Ramans and Jack Elder each chipped in a goal — 11 different Spartans found the net.
- San José State also won the hustle battle, drawing more kickouts than Wagner to fuel its attack.
vs. LIU
- Keightley kept rolling with five more goals in the nightcap.
- Kristok turned in a hat trick of his own.
- Kolos Kohári, Aidan Johnson and Sárfalvi each scored twice.
- Macbeth, Austin Hexter, Sy Lazzaroni, Biros, Marquez, Hegedus and Mitchell Keightley each found the back of the net.
- The Spartans' depth showed up in a big way, pouring in 22 goals as a group.
