IRVINE, Calif.—Zuzana Kosíková hit .400 for the Spartans in Friday’s match as the San José State volleyball team fell to Utah Tech 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-20) in Irvine.

  • Kosíková finished the match with a team-best 11 kills on 25 attempts and only one hitting error.
  • Lolohea Fonua and Learden Lee each recorded five kills
  • Hanna Darvas recorded 16 assists and seven digs, while Fatimah Hall had 13 assists and five digs.
  • Orian Drore, Fanua and Darvas each recorded seven digs to lead the team.
  • In the first set, San José State jumped out to a 13-6 lead and maintained the lead until Utah Tech tied the set at 22-22 and won 25-23.
  • The Spartans started the second by maintaining a lead until 9-9 when Utah Tech took the lead to win 25-16.
  • The third set featured eight lead changes and 13 tied scores before UT won 25-20.

UP NEXT – The Spartans continue in Southern California on Saturday with a match at Long Beach State, beginning at 4 p.m. The team finishes the road trip on Sunday with a match at UC Irvine at noon.
