IRVINE, Calif.—Fatimah Hall became the 23rd player in school history to record a 20/20 double-double, and three players recorded 10 or more kills as the San José State volleyball team remained undefeated on Sundays this season with a 3-2 win at UC Irvine (26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 19-25, 15-13).

  • Hall recorded the 41st 20/20 double-double in school history with 25 assists and a career-high 23 digs in the win. She is the first Spartan to record a 20/20 double-double since Latahevai Lousi had 20 kills and 20 digs against Nevada on March 5, 2021.
  • Morgan Graves led the hitting attack with 17 kills and added nine digs in the win.
  • Lolohea Fonua had 13 kills and five digs.
  • Zuzana Kosíková had her second double-double of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs. She also led the team with two aces.
  • Four Spartans recorded 10+ digs in the match – Hall with 23, Orian Drore at 18, Hanna Darvas with 18 and Kosíková at 10.
  • Darvas recorded her first double-double as a Spartan with 21 assists to go with her 16 digs.
  • SJSU trailed 9-5 early in the first set but battled back to take a 24-22 lead and did not let UCI take another lead to win 26-24 on a Graves kill.
  • The Spartans jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the second set and got a Fonua kill to win 25-17.
  • SJSU trailed 24-20 in the third set and cut the lead to 24-23 before falling 25-23. The Anteaters won the fourth set 25-19 to force a fifth set.
  • Tied at 11-11 in set five, a solo block by Ava Hewitt-Smith, a kill by Graves, a block by Hewitt-Smith and Graves and the set-winning kill by Naima Foster gave San José State the 15-13 win and the 3-2 match victory.

UP NEXT – The Spartans return home for the Battle of NorCal next weekend. The team hosts Sacramento State on Friday, September 18, at 4 p.m., and California on Sunday, September 20, at 2 p.m. Sacramento State and California will play on Saturday at 2 p.m. All matches will be played at Spartan Gym, inside the YUH Complex, and admission is free for all. Parking is available at the West Garage, located on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets.
