SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State announces a shift in its future football slate, headlined by the historic "Battle for the Valley" rivalry against Fresno State alongside a newly solidified six-game, home-and-home series with Sac State, beginning in 2027.
The 2027 edition of the "Battle for the Valley" rivalry game has been rescheduled for Sept. 8, 2035, as San José State prepares to host arch-rival Fresno State this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in one of the season's most anticipated matchups. Serving as the final "Battle for the Valley" showdown until 2029, this high-stakes rivalry game carries immense weight for the program and bragging rights.
Saturday's rivalry game will air live nationally on FS1. Fans can secure their seats by purchasing tickets here.
To complement its marquee rivalry matchups, San José State has also added a six-game series against Sac State spanning the next decade, beginning next season.
"We are thrilled to bring this series with Sac State to our fans and the entire Northern California community," said Jeff Konya, SJSU Director of Athletics. "Maintaining strong regional ties is a priority for our program. With Sac State’s recent elevation to the FBS, these games take on a new level of importance, creating a high-caliber environment that benefits both universities and the student-athletes involved."
The Spartans and Hornets last met in 2024, when San José State secured a 42-24 victory. SJSU currently holds a 2-0 all-time lead in the series.
