COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Keshav "KC" Mungali and Noah Scavo each carded a 2-under 70 on Saturday to lead the San José State men's golf team in the opening round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at the Eisenhower Golf Course Blue Course.
As a team, the Spartans combined for a 1-under 287 on the day to sit in eighth place out of 18 teams heading into the second round.
Mungali anchored the lineup with a team-best six birdies, while Scavo tallied five birdies of his own. The pair finished the day tied for 10th place individually on the leaderboard.
- Grant Leary turned in an even-par 72 featuring four birdies to end the round tied for 29th place.
- Ryan Pupach registered a 3-over 75 with a pair of birdies to finish tied for 54th.
- Dominic Lucchesi posted a 5-over 77 with three birdies to finish tied for 72nd.
Competing as individuals on the Eisenhower Golf Course Silver Course, three Spartans also put together strong opening rounds:
- Joey Allan fired a 6-under 66, highlighted by two eagles and four birdies, to claim second place on the Silver Course leaderboard.
- Jackson Lutz carded a 2-under 70 with five birdies to finish the opening day tied for sixth place.
- Brady Foster shot a 2-over 74 with four birdies to finish tied for 16th place.
UP NEXT: The Spartans head into the second round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational from the Eisenhower Golf Course on Sunday.
