PALO ALTO, Calif.- Samu Biros and Palmer Macbeth each scored two goals on the day to lead the No. 11 San José State men's water polo team (5-5, 0-0 WCC) in losses against No. 2 USC (9-0, 0-0 MPSF) 16-7, and No. 6 Long Beach State University (8-2, 0-0 Big West) 17-11 on Day Two of the MPSF Invite from the Avery Aquatics Center on Saturday.
vs. No. 2 USC
- The Spartans took initiative, scoring the first two goals on strikes from Louis Fehrensen and Mitchell Keightley, but the Trojans answered and pulled away for a 16-7 win.
- Macbeth paced the Spartans' offense with the two goals, both coming in the fourth quarter. M. Keightley, Aidan Johnson, Vince Biros and Jack Elder each added one apiece.
vs. No. 6 LBSU
- The Spartans kept up with the Sharks' offense, scoring four goals in the first quarter from Giancarlo Marquez, M. Keightley, Mateja Cetkovic and Sam Keightley.
- Long Beach State pulled ahead in each quarter, leading to a 17-11 score.
- Biros led the team with two goals, as Marquez, M. Keightley, Cetkovic, S. Keightley, Sy Lazzaroni, Austin Hexter, and Aron Sárfalvi scored one each.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will close out the MPSF Invite tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. against No. 13 UC Irvine. The game can be watched on OVERNGHT.
