Spartans Host Wyoming on Homecoming, Presented by Rotten Robbie

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State football (3–2, 1–0 Mountain West) hosts Wyoming (2–3, 1–1 Mountain West) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. for homecoming, presented by Rotten Robbie, on CBS Sports Network and the Spartans Sports Media Network.

The Spartans look for their fifth straight home win over Wyoming and their seventh win over the Cowboys in their last nine games overall.

  • This is the first time they've ever met each other on a Friday.
  • This is the second time in the last three seasons that the Spartans have hosted the Cowboys for homecoming.
  • The Spartans now have as many wins as they had a year ago. Last season, the Spartans didn't get their third win until Nov. 1.
  • After beating Hawai‘i, the Spartans have won their last two Mountain West Conference openers when on the road.
  • Under head coach Ken Niumatalolo, the Spartans are 9-3 when they have more takeaways than the opponent, 2-2 when they are even, and 2-12 when they lose the turnover battle.
  • The Spartans have had three takeaways against Wyoming in each of the last two meetings.
  • According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Luke Weaver was the No. 2-graded quarterback in week zero with a 90.4 grade, and after two weeks.
  • Weaver leads the MW and is 21st in the country with 11 passing touchdowns, and is second in the MW and 23rd in the country with 1,278 passing yards.
  • Dylan Lee had a career-high 11 tackles vs. Fresno State (09/19/26) and has 44 total tackles, which is good for second in the MW and 17th in the country.
  • Carson Clark caught his fourth touchdown of the season at Hawai‘i (10/03/26). Clark leads the MW and is 20th in the country in receiving touchdowns.
  • Clark has five or more receptions in all five games this season. The last freshman to do this in five straight games was Noel Grigsby in 2010; his streak ended at six games. Tyler Winston was the last freshman to do this in five total games during a season (2013).
  • Against Eastern Michigan (09/04/26), Cooper Hoch had a career day, posting his first two touchdown receptions and 115 receiving yards on five catches. Hoch also had a career-best 51-yard reception. Hoch had his third touchdown catch of the season against Cal Poly (09/12/26) and is second in the MW in receiving touchdowns.
  • Jeremiah Tuiileila was named to the PFF Group of Six defensive team after his three tackles, one tackle for loss, and three quarterback hurries at Eastern Michigan (09/04/26).
  • Tuiileila is the fourth highest-rated edge defender in the FBS according to PFF with a 90.7 grade, and leads the team with 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss.
  • Justin Stearns is the 11th highest-rated edge defender in the FBS according to PFF with an 87.4 grade and has two sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.
  • Caleb Womack was the No. 4-graded cornerback with a 75.1 grade and was No.1 in defensive tackling with an 84.7 grade in week zero, according to PFF. Womack had his first career interception against Cal Poly (09/12/26) and his second at Hawai‘i (10/03/26).
  • Womack has five or more tackles in every game this season and is third in the MW and 14th in the country with two interceptions.
  • Jabari Bates is the 58th highest-rated FBS running back in the country, according to PFF, with a 77.8 grade. He is first in the MW and 18th in the country with 487 rushing yards.
  • Bates has had 27 carries in two of his last three games. He is the first running back to have 27 carries in a game since Tyler Nevens in 2021. The last time a Spartan running back had two games with at least 27 carries was Tyler Ervin in 2015.
  • Bates is fourth in the country and first in the MW with 104 carries this season.
  • Through five games, the Spartans have 170 rushing attempts. Last season, the Spartans ran the ball a total of 317 times, which was the third fewest in the country.
  • Through four games in 2026, the Spartans have 173 passing attempts and 170 rushing attempts.
  •  SJSU is 5-1 when holding Wyoming to 21 or fewer points and 2-7 when Wyoming scored 24 or more.
  • The Spartans have played three straight games vs. Wyoming, where they've had a wide receiver hit 100 receiving yards.
  • SJSU hasn't allowed Wyoming to have a 100-yard rusher in three straight games.
  • Since 2020, the Spartans are 39-36 (.520), which is good for the second-best record out of Mountain West returning teams. Only Air Force (44-29, .603) has a better winning percentage over that time among returning Mountain West schools.
  • Clark has 314 receiving yards, which is second in the MW and 74th in the country. He was the No. 3-graded wide receiver in week zero with an 83.5, according to PFF.
  • The Spartans have recorded a takeaway in 24 of 30 games under Niumatalolo.
  • Since 2020, the Spartans have 39 wins, including 26 conference wins, four bowl appearances, and one Mountain West Championship.
