SAN JOSE, Calif. — The No. 13 San José State men's water polo team (6-8, 0-0 WCC) opens conference play this weekend at the SRAC, hosting No. 9 Pacific (4-5, 0-0 WCC) on Friday afternoon before taking on No. 18 UC Davis (8-7, 0-0 WCC) on Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans enter the weekend off a hard-fought overtime loss to No. 12 UC Santa Barbara, 13-12. The Spartans stayed within a goal or two throughout, with goals from Samu Biros, Giancarlo Marquez, Aron Sárfalvi and Aidan Johnson keeping them in the fight before the Gauchos pulled away in the extra session.

Sunday's matchup marks UC Davis' first season in the WCC. The Spartans swept both meetings with the Aggies last season, winning 11-7 at the Aggie Roundup behind four goals from Biros before edging UC Davis again, 9-8, in the teams' second matchup.
- S. Keightley leads the Spartans on both ends of the pool, pacing the team with 43 goals and 26 kickouts.
- Mitchell Keightley leads the team with 27 assists.
- Marquez rounds out the defensive leaders with 18 kickouts and four blocks.
