Cameron Hanson Season 2019

AT SAN JOSE STATE: In his second season with the Spartans... Competing for playing time as a linebacker... Signed a National Letter-of-Intent in December 2018.

2019: Completed a redshirt season.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Played two seasons as a linebacker at Southwestern College (Coach Ed Carberry)... Helped the Jaguars win the 2018 Beach Bowl and the 2017 American Championship Bowl... A 2018 second-team Southern League selection, team’s Most Valuable Player and team captain as a sophomore... Was in on 49 tackles and was third on the squad with 9.0 tackles for loss. Also used occasionally as a running back during his community college career.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in football (Coach Shaun McDade) and track and field at Mount Miguel High in Spring Valley, Calif. ... Besides linebacker, also saw action as a defensive lineman as a sophomore, fullback as a junior and punter and long snapper his senior season... The 2016 Grossmont Valley League’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time first-team all-league player... Concluded his high school football career playing in the 2017 San Diego County vs. Inland Empire football all-star game... A sprinter, shot put and discus thrower, and long jumper in track and field.
 
MORE ON CAMERON: Has not declared a major... Interested in kinesiology or business... Enjoys watching movies and lists “Pulp Fiction,” and “Friday” among his favorites... First began playing football when he was a fifth-grader... He is a native of La Mesa, Calif.
