AT SAN JOSÉ STATE: Fourth season with the Spartans... An offensive guard hopeful... One of 10 Spartans honored in 2012 on National Student-Athlete Day by the National Consortium for Academics & Sports... Named to the 2012 Academic All-Western Athletic Conference team... One of two recipients of the USMC Leadership Award given at the 2014 San José State University year-end SAMMY Awards for charismatic leadership in community service activities.
2013: Moved to the offensive line for the 2013 season... Did not see any game action due to injuries.
2012: Played in nine games, all as a reserve... Credited with nine tackles and 4.0 tackles for loss... Had a tackle in five of the nine games he played... 3.0 tackles for loss in the UC Davis win (9/8) - the second best individual total by a Spartan during the season... Picked up his first major college quarterback sack against UC Davis... Three stops and a tackle for loss in the Military Bowl win over Bowling Green (12/27).
2011: Completed a redshirt season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in football (Coach Dusty Peace), wrestling and track and field at Canyon Del Oro High in Tucson, Ariz... The 2010 Class 4A-I Co-Player of the Year... A first-team all-league lineman who played both offense and defense... Two-time all-league honoree also was an honorable mention all-state defensive lineman as a junior... Outstanding high school wrestler who set school records with 33 pinfalls as a sophomore and fastest pinfall in 10 seconds... At the 2010 Salpointe Invitational, he pinned five opponents in a cumulative time of 5:48... Third in the state Class 4A-I in 2010 and fifth in 2009 competing as a heavyweight... Threw the shot put and discus in track and field.
