Nicholas Kaspar is in his third season with the San José State University football staff. In his second year as a graduate assistant, he will work with the defensive coaches and players. Kaspar served as a staff assistant during the 2014 season.
One of the most durable San José State offensive linemen in recent years, Nicholas was primarily a right guard and played some center for the 2010 through 2013 Spartan teams. In his 50-game career, he started 44 times at right guard and the first two games of the 2013 season at center. Kaspar's 43-game consecutive starting streak beginning midway through his freshman season is one of the longest in school history.
A two-time all-conference offensive lineman, he was one of six team captains his senior season. Kaspar was a 2012 first-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection as a junior when San José State won the Military Bowl and finished 21st nationally in the final national polls. In 2013, he was a second-team All-Mountain West choice.
The December 2013 graduate majored in justice studies. The Westlake Village, Calif., native was a four-time academic all-conference honoree and was named to the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society in 2014.
